Overview
In this document, the concepts and processes of Linked Order Messages will be discussed. This allows users to add a message to an order and have it show on all POs generated from it.
Assumptions
We will assume throughout this article that you are processing orders and POs that are hard linked.
Terms:
Linked Order Message: A message when added to an order will copy over to any hard linked PO.
General Concepts
Creating a Linked Order Message
-
As you are creating your Quote you will notice a tab within the Quality tab called Messages. This is where you can enter a note or comment that will copy over to the same field in the Quality then Message tab of a hard linked PO.

-
Once you convert and generate POs off of the order, given that you entered a message, open the Quality then Messages tab of the PO/s. The message as it was entered on the order will appear.
-
You can also add a linked order message after converting. Unlock the order and add the message and click save. This applies even if you have not created any hard linked POs yet.

Change a Linked Order Message on the Order
-
You can unlock the Order and make a change to the message too. Upon clicking save, you will have 2 choices.
-
Update Message in Linked PO/s
- Will override whatever message is already in the message on the PO/s.
-
Update Message for Order only
- Will leave message/s as is in the PO/s and will save changes only on the order.

- Will leave message/s as is in the PO/s and will save changes only on the order.
-
If you have converted the order and also created hard linked PO/s, but have NOT entered a message yet, when you unlock the order and enter a message in the order, the same options will appear.
-
Change a Linked Order Message On a Linked PO
-
You can also change the order from a PO. Once unlocked, you can add or make changes to the Linked Order Message (in the same tab as on the order) and then click Save.

-
However, this will only save the message on that particular PO. This can be helpful if you want all POs to have the same message but need to add a unique detail to each one after the message.
-
Again, if you want to add or change the message for all PO/s, you must do so in the hard linked Order.
